DNA Testing FAQs
How long will DNA samples remain valid for?
With the proper storage methods, DNA extracted from biological samples i.e. Saliva, blood, epithelial cells, can be stored for many years. For paternity testing if samples are collected via Buccal (mouth) swabs, there is no technical expiration date. However, the swabs must have dried completely before being sealed in the envelope to prevent mould from growing and compromising the sample.
